The title of this post says it all. We heart Bookworks, one of the few remaining local, independent bookstores in Albuquerque, and we are proud to collaborate with them on our monthly Vamos a Leer meetings.
I want to give them a shout-out and thank them for all the outreach they do around our humble Vamos a Leer book group. They tirelessly find ways to support their community! We saw this illustrated when, on Monday night, we stopped in to discuss Caminar and were greeted with this lovely display (see left).
Not familiar with the store? Here are a few quick facts about this local establishment:
–Last fall, Bookworks celebrated 30 years as a locally-owned and operated business, one which proudly proclaims its dedication to “supporting…community and connecting books and readers.”
–Bookworks has hosted Vamos a Leer 29 times since we began in May of 2012;
–Bookworks hosts 400-500 adult, young adult, and children’s events annually;
–Bookworks has been a literary meeting place in Albuquerque since 1984;
If you’re in the area, be sure to visit. The store is always well stocked with intriguing titles, hard-to-find selections, and the newest acclaimed writers. And the friendly staff is always willing to point you in the right direction!
Cheers,
Keira
