Book-Giveaway-Seal_DraftWe’re giving away a copy of La Línea written by Ann Jaramillo–our featured novel for October’s book group meeting!! Check out the following from reviewers:

“A gripping contemporary survival adventure, this spare first novel is also a heart-wrenching family story of courage, betrayal, and love.”—Booklist, Starred Review.

“Jaramillo’s first novel is convincing and effective.”—The Horn Book Magazine

 “A nail-biting real-life adventure.”—Kirkus Reviews

“This well-written account of the perils of illegal border crossing would make a worthwhile read for students studying history, geography, or cultures and is a solid recommendation for both school and public libraries.”—Voices of Youth Advocates

“The author creates a mood of desperation and anxiety as the story unfolds and Miguel and Elena discover that crossing la línea will forever change the way they look at themselves and the world.”—School Library Journal

It looks like another great addition to any personal or classroom library! To be entered in the giveaway, just comment on any post on the blog by September 26th.  Everyone who comments between August 29th and September 26th will be entered in the drawing.  If your name is chosen, we’ll email you ASAP about mailing the book to you.

Don’t forget, we also raffle off a copy of the following month’s featured novel at each book group meeting.  So if you’re an Albuquerque local, join us for our first book group meeting on September 8th for a chance to win!

    • Hi Florence! It’s a great book, and a quick read. I read it earlier this summer and really liked it. I think it’d be a good one for your students. I thought I had your number, but I can’t find it anywhere. I’m going to email my number to your gmail acct. Call me whenever you’re free!
