Katrina, Keira and I decided to take advantage of the numerous (and I mean numerous) reading challenges that go on in the blog world each year. This year we will be participating in 2 challenges.
Our goal with this challenge is get a Silver Medal, which is 11-25 award winning books read from Jan. 2013 — Dec. 2013. We think this should absolutely be attainable since 95% of our books are Américas, Pura Belpré or Tomás Rivera Award Winners.
This is another great reading challenge as it deals directly with our genre: YA Lit. Katrina and I figured since we’re both on the short(er) side, we’d go with the “Fun Size” category where we read 20 YA books from Jan. 2013-Dec. 2013.
The books we’ve already read count towards our challenges (whew!) and both of these challenges overlap with one another so Katrina, Keira and I are optimistic about completing both challenges. Not to mention, we’re all in grad school, so it’s pretty clear we stare challenge in the face like Johnny Bones Jones.
Do any of YOU wonderful bloggers do reading challenges? Why not sign up with one of these and we can do it together?! I highly recommend looking into book reading challenges through the blog world: it is a great resource for books you would have never heard of otherwise. There are challenges for every genre of book and every type of reader. Why not find one (or a few) your whole family or classroom can engage in? My guess is that there are classroom challenges, too.
