Did you know that February 14th is special for more than one reason?! Yes, it is Valentine’s Day which happens to be one of my favorite holidays (I know, I know, totally commercialized, but I can’t resist the chocolate and glitter!) But, it’s also International Book Giving Day!! All the more reason to get excited about February 14th!
Here are three suggestions from the official website on how to celebrate:
1. Give a Book to a Friend or Relative.
Celebrate International Book Giving Day by giving a child a new, used or borrowed book.
2. Leave a Book in a Waiting Room or Lobby.
Choose a waiting room where kids are stuck waiting and there are few to no good books available. Purchase a good book, and deposit your book covertly or overtly in your waiting room of choice. The goal here is to spread the love of reading to kids, so choose a fun book, nothing controversial.

Happy Book Gifting!!
Yay! I’m excited for this! My ideas of where to donate for International Book Giving Day are here: http://www.pragmaticmom.com/2013/01/international-book-giving-day-2/
I love the idea of this day too! Thanks for your link! I’m going to check out your ideas now!
I’ll be flying that day. I think giving a book to a traveling kid is a great idea!
I think that’s a great idea too! Our book giveaway here the blog ends on the 14th, but I haven’t decided how I’m going to ‘celebrate’ the day and gift a book to someone else yet!
At some of the area Flying Star restaurants here in NM, they have a little book exchange area: take a book, bring one to leave. It’s like Book Giving Day every day!
My family and I have been passing books around to each other for years and maybe I’ll do something extra special on Feb. 14th this year!
Reading + snuggly dog + tea + chocolate = L-O-V-E!
