Día de los Muertos: A Week in Review

As many of you know, October has been an incredibly busy month for us here at Vamos a Leer and the Latin American and Iberian Institute.  It all culminated in one incredibly busy but wonderfully fun week! As promised, I wanted to share some of our photos from the Día de los Muertos events we participated in last week.

It began with the National Hispanic Cultural Center’s Despedida on Friday night.  I absolutely loved seeing the ofrendas created by different classrooms and community organizations.  We were very excited to create our own ofrenda and participate in the event!  On Saturday we got to hang out at Corrales International School’s International Day.  We had a blast decorating sugar skulls with all the students who came out for this special day! Then we wrapped up our weekend with Albuquerque’s Marigold Parade–always a community favorite!

I hope you enjoy! We definitely did! Click Continue below to see all the fantastic pictures!

Be sure to check back next year for more ways to teach about Día de los Muertos in your classroom!! We’ll have our complete thematic guide finished and available to download then!
