World Wide Web: Cornell University’s Latin American Studies Outreach Initiatives

While doing some research recently, I came across a wonderful resource of curriculum units and lesson plans from Cornell University’s Latin American Studies Program.  In collaboration with Denver Public Schools and Metropolitan State College of Denver, Cornell’s Latin American Studies Program has put together an outstanding set of lesson plans.  The units are divided into four groups: elementary school, middle school, high school, and country specific lessons.  Within each of the grade level groupings, the standards based units are divided into lessons on Art & Dance, Language & Literature, Science & Environmental Studies, and Social Studies & History. There are a variety of topics including folk tales, climate changes, artesanía, the Aztec, and immigration just to name a few.  It’s another resource that I would highly recommend you spend some time exploring–they have content that would be applicable for almost any subject area.
